.. to sit down and write.

I sit in “our” house in Wagga Wagga (New South Wales, Australia) near Lake Albert, outside the sun shines at 11C and two dogs (Max and Jack) play in the garden with the children. We have our second House Sit here in Australia, and at night the temperature fell below zero.

Addendum: I couldn’t post right away, and it’s definately getting warmer every day. It now has 22C, I’m sitting in front of the house in the sun, and a few minutes ago showered the sweat from my body from therun in the morning. There is a lot going on for runners here.

After the tropical sunshine it is quite, erm, a little bit cooler. At least you can look forward to summer. And the sunshine feels very good and warm here in spring. At night, however, the heating is still set to 13C, so that it does not get too cold in the house.

Before we landed in Australia we stayed 2 weeks in Kuala Lumpur. In front of the Petronas Twin Towers there is the largest playground we have seen so far, and next to it is a swimming pool with a waterfall. But only for children up to 12 years. Adults are not even allowed to wear swimwear. You can put your feet in the water for supervision. Plitsch, Platsch. The children were thrilled, so were we.

Fruits

On our way home, delicious fruits are quickly eaten. Fruits are always something important for us and just do the body good, especially with ripe fruits to the tongue.

Petrosains

A visit to the Science Museum at Petrona Towers: Petrosains, The Discovery Centre is also an unforgettable, positive event for children that can last hours without it becoming bland. Our young explorers and scientists wanted after waiting 1 hour and staying there for 4 hours, at least twice as long. But it closed earlier.

Language

By the way, the incorporation of English words into the Malaysian language is very simple and obvious. It is written as one pronounces it. Petrosains = Petro Science, Bus = Bas, Station = Stesen, Police = Polis …

Batu Caves

When we visited the Batu Caves they were just being renovated. Everything was painted in color, wonderfully colorful, and we were there just at the right time of day, because the temperatures were quite (very) high at that time of the year. A guided tour of the caves, including helmet duty and equipped with flashlights, was a wonderful experience for us. Monkeys watch all visitors, and if they see something they can seize, they do it. They took a cap out of my backpack at lightning speed, but, since it was useless for them, it was dropped immediately. So we got it back. A monkey climbed over Kathi’s arm and back to successfully fetch a box of fruit. This was then expertly shredded and the contents devoured. There are many monkeys at this place and so they have to be fast to catch something before the others.

There are a few restaurants at the foot of the stairs, and incredible, all vegetarian, mainly vegan! The Batu Caves are “Hindu”.

Kuala Lumpur Forest Eco Park

We also visited Kuala Lumpur Forest Eco Park. For the first time in the city mosquito attacks were performed. Simply Eco – *laugh*

Botanical garden

A visit to the Botanical Garden is mandatory (as everywhere if there is one), as plants are always something for the eye and it is usually a little quieter and more relaxed. If there are still playgrounds in it, there is no stopping us.

Food

In Kuala Lumpur you can eat indian food for 4.50€ (for us 4 together and “all you can ea”t). And really yummy too. By default, you eat with your hands. Funny to watch the Indian guests handle it. Since we had already eaten Ethiopian with our hands in Vienna and this is one of our favorite meals, it was also a great experience to turn the food through our fingers and to maneuver it with some practice into the mouth.

The Malaysian food itself is by no means recommended. Almost everything you can buy to eat contains sugar – usually as the main ingredient. Sugar seems to be a staple food. So who would be surprised that Malaysia is the Asian country with the most overweight people? And which country follows …… Thailand.

“Ticking time bomb”

In any case, this city is definitely worth visiting, and you should plan enough time. Especially with children, a week is almost too short.

In the inner part of the city, even the buses are free. Tip: Smartphone app

GoKL

. Happycow as a vegetarian food guide is also not very well known and is hardly used. A dedicated app for Malaysia provides a remedy:

GoVeggie Malaysia

. The choice is not small!

Then we went by plane to Sydney…
